FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the questions we hear most often about ordering patches from My Threaded Heart.

What backing options do you offer?

Most patches are available with sew on, iron on, or hook backing. Sew on is the most secure option for long-term wear. Iron on works well for many jackets, jeans, and bags. Hook backing is great for gear, hats, vests, and anything with a loop surface.

How do I iron on a patch?

Place the patch where you want it, cover it with a pressing cloth, and press with a hot iron for about 20 to 30 seconds. Let it cool before checking the edges. For items that get heavy wear or frequent washing, we recommend adding a few stitches around the edge.

Do the colors match the photos?

We do our best to photograph each patch accurately. Small color differences can happen because of screen settings, lighting, and thread batches, but the design and thread colors will stay as consistent as possible.

How long does shipping take?

All orders are made to order and usually ship within 5 to 7 business days. Orders ship through USPS. Tracking is included when available for the shipping method selected at checkout, though some low cost letter or flat options may have limited tracking updates.

Do you take custom orders?

Sometimes, yes. Custom work depends on the design, size, complexity, and our current order volume. You can read more on our Custom Orders page, or see the Custom Patch Pricing page for a basic cost breakdown.

What size should I choose?

Small patches work well for hats, sleeves, and subtle placements. Medium patches are a good everyday choice for jackets, bags, and vests. Large patches work best for statement placements, back panels, costumes, and gear. If you are unsure, medium is usually the safest choice.

Are these patches handmade?

Yes. Every patch is made in-house on professional embroidery equipment, then trimmed and finished by hand.

How do I care for my patch?

Wash gently and avoid high heat when possible, especially if you used iron on backing. For the strongest long-term hold, sew the patch on or add a few stitches around the edge after ironing.

Do you accept returns?

Because our patches are made to order, returns and exchanges are generally not accepted. If your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, email us within 7 days of delivery so we can help fix the issue.
